King Philip’s War: The History and Legacy of America’s Forgotten Conflict
2025 marks the 350th anniversary of the start of King Philip’s War, a brutal, two-year struggle between New England’s Native Americans and their English neighbors. Fought in southern New England from 1675 to 1676, the War ended fifty years of peace and changed the cultural and political landscape of New England forever. Schultz will review the War’s events, participants, causes, literature, and legacy, including the famous attack on Medfield in February 1676.
Eric B. Schultz is former CEO of Sensitech Inc. and author of “King Philip’s War: The History and Legacy of America’s Forgotten Conflict” (with Michael Tougias, Countryman Press, 1999). His most recent book is “Innovation on Tap,” a history of American innovation. Eric is a Director Emeritus of the New England Historic Genealogical Society and the Gettysburg Foundation, and is a current Director of the Old Colony History Museum in Taunton.
This event is co-sponsored by the Medfield Historical Society and The Medfield Public Library, and is free and open to the public.
Registration for this event is not required, but is greatly appreciated in order to help us plan.
